Dominium Begins Construction on Minneapolis Affordable Housing Development
Groundbreaking celebration planned for 183-unit 1500 Nicollet
Dominium, announced today that it will begin construction on 1500 Nicollet, a 183-unit affordable housing development in Minneapolis. A groundbreaking celebration is planned for December 19, 2017.
Dominium will begin construction of the affordable housing community on December 19th. Units will include in-unit laundry and new Energy Star appliances. Indoor common amenities will include a fitness studio, yoga studio, bike repair station, club room, lounge area, interactive transit schedule, community kitchen and a coffee/tech bar.
The building will be constructed using quality materials that are aesthetically complementary to the local community. The design goal is to maintain the historic character of the neighborhood through the use of a brick façade, large windows, and open courtyards. The building will also have modern amenities such as solar panels, Energy Star lighting and high efficiency mechanical systems. 1500 Nicollet will also include 7,000 sq. ft. of retail space, a public plaza/courtyard and a private outdoor playground.
“There is a tremendous need for affordable housing in the downtown area,” said Ryan Lunderby, vice president and project partner for Dominium. “We want the city of Minneapolis to be proud of this project which will be a valuable asset to the immediate neighborhood and will continue to serve the community for years to come.”
Construction is expected to be completed around May 2019.
